Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how Vogt Strategic Insights (“VSI,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, and protects information when you visit our website or use our web applications, tools, and related services (collectively, the “Services”). It should be read together with our Terms and Conditions. By using the Services you agree to the practices described here.
1. Information we collect
Account information. When you are invited to or register for an account we collect your name, e-mail address, and password (stored only in hashed form), and may collect your company or organization, mailing address, city, state, ZIP code, industry, your e-mail-list preference, and the date and time you accepted our Terms.
Authentication and security records. Each sign-in attempt, sign-out, verification-code event, and password reset is logged with the e-mail address used, the IP address, the browser (user-agent string), the outcome, and the time. These records protect accounts against unauthorized access.
Usage information. For signed-in users we record which applications and pages you access and the actions you take within them, together with your IP address and the time. We also keep standard web-server logs (IP address, requested URL, browser, referring page, time).
Content you provide. Information you enter into our tools, files you upload, requests you submit through our forms (for example, a study request), and problem reports you send us—which may include the page you were on, a description of the issue, and your e-mail address.
Information from your organization or sign-in provider. If you sign in with a Microsoft work account, Microsoft provides us your name and e-mail address. Subscriber organizations may provide us the e-mail domains and contact details associated with their subscription.
2. How we use information
We use the information above to: provide, operate, and support the Services; authenticate you and secure accounts; determine which tools and data your account or subscription may access; respond to your requests and problem reports; send service messages such as invitations, verification codes, password resets, and subscription notices; send marketing e-mail only if you have opted in; investigate misuse, including automated or AI-driven data extraction prohibited by our Terms; and comply with legal obligations. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for automated decision-making that produces legal or similarly significant effects.
3. Cookies and similar technologies
The Services use a small number of cookies that are necessary to operate: a session cookie that keeps you signed in during a visit, an authentication token that lets our applications recognize your account and subscription, and—only if you select “Remember me”—a cookie that keeps you signed in for up to 30 days. These cookies do not track you across other websites. We may also use privacy-focused website analytics that measure page traffic in aggregate; if we do, that measurement does not use advertising identifiers or share data with advertising networks. You can clear or block cookies in your browser, but the Services will not function without the necessary ones.
4. How we share information
We share personal information only: (a) with service providers that process it on our behalf—for example Microsoft (sign-in and e-mail delivery), Google (map, place, and web-font services that receive your IP address when a page loads them), and content-delivery networks that serve script libraries; (b) with your own organization or subscriber administrator, who may see that you hold an account under their domain; (c) when required by law, subpoena, or court order, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of VSI, our users, or others; and (d) in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, in which case this Policy will continue to apply to your information. Links to third-party sites (such as our social-media pages) are governed by those sites’ own privacy policies.
5. Data retention
We keep account information for as long as your account is active and for a reasonable period afterwards to resolve disputes, enforce our agreements, and meet legal and accounting obligations. Security and activity logs are retained for as long as they are needed for the security and integrity of the Services. Uploaded files are subject to the retention period shown in the application in which they were uploaded, after which they are deleted automatically.
6. Security
We protect information with measures appropriate to its sensitivity, including encrypted connections (HTTPS), hashed passwords, e-mail verification codes on sign-in, role-based access controls, and logging of authentication events. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure; please keep your credentials confidential and tell us promptly if you suspect your account has been compromised.
7. Your choices and rights
You can review and update your account details from your account page while signed in. You can unsubscribe from marketing e-mail at any time using the link in the message or by contacting us; service messages necessary to operate your account will continue. You may ask us to access, correct, or delete personal information we hold about you, subject to our legal obligations and the legitimate needs of your organization’s subscription. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under applicable privacy law; contact us to exercise them and we will respond within the time the law requires.
8. Children
The Services are intended for business use by adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.
9. Where information is processed
We operate in the United States, and information is stored and processed there. If you access the Services from outside the United States, you consent to the transfer of your information to the United States.
10. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Policy from time to time. The effective date above will change when we do, and material changes will be noted on this page or communicated to account holders by e-mail. Continued use of the Services after a change constitutes acceptance of the revised Policy.
